Legal Aid Society of National Law University Tripura Conducts Awareness Programme at Juvenile Home, Narsingarh
On 30th October 2025, the Legal Aid Society of National Law University Tripura organized a legal awareness programme at the Juvenile Home, Narsingarh, West Tripura (PIN-799015). The initiative aimed to educate and empower juveniles by spreading awareness about their legal rights, rehabilitation opportunities, and personal well-being.The session covered essential topics such as the rights of juveniles under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, the importance of reformation over punishment, and menstrual hygiene management for adolescent girls, emphasizing dignity, health, and awareness.
To make legal and social concepts more accessible and engaging, members of the Society performed a Skit titled “Notun Path” (The New Path). The play depicted a story of hope, transformation, and second chances — highlighting how every individual, regardless of past mistakes, can choose a new direction in life. The performance received a warm response from the audience, inspiring self-reflection and positivity among the juveniles. In addition to the play, an interactive quiz session was organized, where the juveniles participated enthusiastically, demonstrating keen interest and curiosity. The session helped in reinforcing their understanding of basic legal rights and personal hygiene in a fun and participatory manner.
The success of this initiative was made possible by the invaluable support and guidance of the authorities. The Society extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. Abhijit Adhikari, the Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board, whose encouragement and support were instrumental in facilitating this program. We also thank Miss Susmita Debnath, the House Mother, for her exceptional coordination and warm cooperation throughout the event. The program was guided under the able leadership of the Society’s Faculty Advisor, Miss Dipika Jamatia, Assistant Professor of Law, whose vision and dedication continue to drive the Society’s mission forward.
The event reflected the Society’s continued commitment to bridging the gap between law and society, promoting legal literacy, and encouraging the rehabilitation and reintegration of juveniles into the mainstream with dignity and hope. Through such initiatives, the Legal Aid Society of National Law University Tripura strives to uphold its mission of legal empowerment, compassion, and social justice, reaching out to the most vulnerable and underserved sections of society.
