National Workshop CIPS 2025
The Centre for Intellectual Property Studies (CIPS), National Law University Tripura, in collaboration with the Third World Network (TWN) and with the support of the Tripura State Pharmaceutical Price Monitoring & Resource Unit (TPMRU), organized a National Workshop on “Access to Medicines: 20 Years of Product Patent Protection, Challenges and the Way Forward” on 1 November 2025. The workshop also introduced the “Pharma Sahi Daam” mobile application. Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar, NLU Tripura, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the need for legal and policy reforms to ensure affordable healthcare. Distinguished speakers included Mr. K.M. Gopakumar (TWN), Ms. Kanchan Sinha (former Deputy Drug Controller, Tripura), Mr. Gargeya Telakapalli, Ms. Chetali Rao, and Mr. Dibakar Paul (TPMRU).The sessions explored issues of drug pricing, patent laws, TRIPS implications, and the right to health as a human right. The event witnessed active participation from around 200 students across law colleges in Tripura. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Bandita Sengupta, Assistant Professor of Law, NLU Tripura.
