School-Connect Programme conducted at the neighbouring school, Narsingarh H.S.

NLU Tripura Conducts Career Guidance and Legal Awareness Session at Neighboring School

As part of its School-Connect Programme, NLU Tripura organized a Career Guidance and Legal Awareness Session for Class XI students at Narsingarh Higher Secondary School on 3 February 2026.The session was led by the Vice-Chancellor, NLU Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, wherein he motivated and inspired students on the importance of their legal rights and duties, the expanding scope of the legal profession as a career option, the valuable contributions of lawyers to society, and the growing opportunities in legal education. In the second part of the programme, third-year students of NLU Tripura conducted an interactive awareness session covering critical social and legal issues, including Child Marriage and Drugs awareness, which are increasingly relevant concerns in Tripura. The event was coordinated by Ms. Merelin Darlong, Assistant Professor, NLU Tripura, who also delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks to the school for the initiate which relects their concern towards the students, especially in ensuring their well-being and growth. The outreach initiative is a part of NLU Tripura’s ongoing efforts to address important social issues and provide free legal awareness, under the flagship initiative “Let Us Work for the Children of Tripura”. The programme was attended by the School Principal, Smt. Suchitra Sarkar along with teachers, staff, and students.

Prof. Nachiketa Mittal who heads Centre of Excellence for AI and Data Governance at NLU Tripura spoke on Application of AI in Legal Services and Judicial System. Prof. Mittal discussed about techno legal approach in AI designing framework for responsible AI and strengthening ethics quotient in the AI development and operationalization reducing risks of data breach, biases in AI optimization. NLU Tripura is happy to lead techno legal discourse vis-a-vis AI in boosting AI development and deployment across sectors in Tripura.

The Vice-Chancellor, NLUT Unfurled the National Flag on the 77th Republic Day

26th January 2026

NLU Tripura celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. The occasion was marked by the unfurling of the National Flag by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor reflected on the enduring significance of the Constitution of India and emphasized the collective responsibility of citizens, especially the youth in upholding democratic ideals, constitutional morality, and the rule of law.

The celebration witnessed active participation from faculty members, staff, and students, fostering a spirit of unity and national pride. The event concluded with vibrant cultural performances by students, showcasing India’s rich diversity and cultural heritage through music, dance, and thematic presentations, and reaffirming the values of unity in diversity and national integrity.

Review of University Construction Progress

24th January 2026

The University is making sustained efforts to expedite the construction of its permanent campus and hostels. Pursuant to the initiative of the Vice-Chancellor, a site visit was recently conducted under the leadership of Hon’ble Justice S.D. Purkayastha, Judge, High Court of Tripura and Member of the General and Executive Councils of NLU Tripura, to review progress, to put pressure on construction agencies and to ensure timely completion. The University remains committed to shifting students to its own hostels at the earliest. As per the revised timeline, the Academic and Administrative Blocks are scheduled for completion by December 2026, while the hostels are expected to become functional by June 2026. Students are assured that the University is actively working in their best interests to improve infrastructure and living facilities.

The Centre for Tribal Studies & Social Justice (CTSSJ) at National Law University Tripura observed Kokborok Day today. The event commenced with an address by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, NLU Tripura, who encouraged and emphasised the importance of preserving indigenous language and literature. The programme also highlighted cultural performances, including songs and poetry recitation in the Kokborok language. LDS, NLUT Wins 1st Runner-Up at the 44th Book Fair Debate Competition

The Literary and Debate Society (LDS) of National Law University Tripura participated in the 44th Book Fair Debate Competition, organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) Department, Government of Tripura. Representing the University with distinction, Ms. Rashmi Das, a student of BA LL.B. (Hons.), 4th Semester, secured the 1st Runner-Up position.The competition was held on the topic “Climate Change: Responsibility of Citizen or Individual.”
