The Centre for Intellectual Property Studies (CIPS) at National Law University, Tripura, successfully organized an online lecture on “Digital Marketplace Challenges: Reconciling Trademark Protection with Consumer Interests” on October 10, 2025. The session was delivered by Mr. Abhinav Mohan Goel, Advocate, Supreme Court of India and High Court of Himachal Pradesh, who delved into the intricate dynamics of trademark protection within digital marketplaces. He offered insightful perspectives on balancing brand rights and consumer interests, while addressing pressing concerns such as counterfeit proliferation, cyber-squatting, and brand misuse on emerging platforms. The lecture greatly enhanced participants’ understanding of these evolving issues, offering conceptual clarity and practical insights into the challenges and future directions of trademark regulation in the digital era.
