As part of the programme, the Centre for Women and Child Rights (CWCR), under the guidance of Dr. Debashree Debnath, Assistant Professor of Law, presented a nukkad natak focusing on the issue of “Child marriage”. The performance highlighted the social and legal consequences of child marriage and emphasised the importance of awareness, education and timely intervention in preventing the practice.
The Pro Bono Club, under the guidance of Dr. Jayanta Dhar, Registrar, National Law University, Tripura, presented a nukkad natak on “Drug abuse”. The performance addressed common forms of cyber crime and online fraud, including the risks associated with sharing personal information, responding to suspicious calls and messages, and accessing unknown or fraudulent links. The performance aimed to promote safe and responsible use of digital platforms.
Following the performances, members of the participating organisations further interacted with the local community and explained the issues addressed through the nukkad nataks in simple and relatable terms. The interaction also provided an opportunity for the community members to raise questions and engage in discussion on matters affecting their daily lives.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Dipika Jamatia, Assistant Professor of Law, who expressed gratitude to the Panchayat authorities, community members, faculty members and students for their participation and support in making the programme possible.
