HMJ M.S Ramachandra Rao graced the Induction & Orientation Programme of the 3rd Batch B.A. LL.B (Hons.) & LL.M.

August 11, 2025

The National Law University, Tripura welcomed its 3rd batch of B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. students during its two-day Induction and Orientation Programme on 11–12 August 2025, marking another milestone in its mission to provide world-class legal education in the State. The inaugural day was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao, Chief Justice, High Court of Tripura and Chancellor, as President; Prof. (Dr.) N.L. Mitra, Founding Vice-Chancellor of NLU Jodhpur and former Director, NLSIU Bangalore, as Chief Guest; and Shri Ratan Datta, Chairman, Bar Council of Tripura, as Guest of Honour.

Chief Justice Rao extolled the University’s leadership and faculty for achieving full intake in both programmes, praising the Vice-Chancellor’s dynamic vision and dedication in steering NLU Tripura towards excellence. Hon’ble Chief Justice assured parents and students that the University is committed to providing modern infrastructure and top-class facilities, and that all efforts are being made to expedite the completion of its permanent campus. Prof. N. L. Mitra, drawing on decades of leadership in legal education, stressed that law permeates all aspects of life—governance, business, technology, environment, human rights, and international relations—and that the legal profession is both a calling and a responsibility, symbolising “an army of human rights” to the common man. Shri Ratan Datta warmly welcomed the new batch, congratulating them on joining one of the region’s most promising law schools. In his welcome address, Founding Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh reflected on the journey of National Law Universities and urged students to be torchbearers of NLU Tripura’s future. The day concluded with a vote of thanks by the Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal.

The second day featured orientation of university’s academic and cocurricular activities including health check-up camp, session on “Benefits of Yoga for Mental Health” by Dr. Sanjib Kr. Bhowmik and an Anti-Ragging Skit promoting zero tolerance towards ragging. The two-day programme aimed to ensure a smooth academic transition, inspiring students for their journey at NLU Tripura.
