Observation and Celebration of Anti-Ragging Week at NLU Tripura

August 12, 2025

As part of the UGC’s Anti-Ragging Week Campaign, the Anti-Ragging Day, observed on 12th August 2025, was celebrated at NLU Tripura with great enthusiasm, coinciding with the Induction and Orientation Day for the new batch of students. The Founding Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, in his address, reiterated the University’s stance of ‘Zero tolerance towards Ragging.’ He encouraged students to embrace each other’s culture and to cultivate mutual respect, thereby nurturing a safe and inclusive academic environment.

The Senior Students Performed a Skit on “Say No to Ragging”, with an objective of sensitizing the newcomers and promoting a healthy, ragging-free campus. This performance set the tone for the beginning of a week-long Anti-Ragging Campaign which continued till the 18th of August.Throughout the campaign, both seniors and juniors participated wholeheartedly, showcasing their shared commitment to building a safe, supportive, and inclusive community.

The Anti-Ragging Week celebrations continued till 18th August 2025 with a variety of activities, including:

  1. Poster Making Competition
  2. Poetry Recitation Competition(merged with the theme of patriotism during the 79th Independence Day celebration)
  3. Slogan Writing Competitionon the theme “Say No to Ragging”
  4. Skit Performanceon “Zero Tolerance of Ragging in the Campus”
  5. Debate Competition on “Prevention or Punishment: Setting the Right Focus for Anti-Ragging Laws”
  6. Cultural Performancesunder the theme “YaRiYouthAgainstRagging”

The events were conducted under the guidance of Ms. Merelin Darlong, Head of the Campus Cultural Committee. Through these activities, NLU Tripura reinforced its strong commitment to upholding the UGC’s initiative of ensuring a ragging-free campus and promoting harmony among its students.
