National Law University, Tripura presents the 2nd Apanshu Mohan Lodh Memorial Public Lecture.
The 2nd Apanshu Mohan Lodh Memorial Public Lecture was successfully organized on 14 March 2026 at NLU Tripura, witnessing the presence of distinguished members of the legal fraternity, academia, and government. The event was graced by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, as the Chief Guest and Speaker. The Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the occasion.
Justice Bhuyan delivered an inspiring lecture on the theme “Emerging Frontiers for Law Graduates: Challenges and Opportunities.” Drawing upon the words of Lord Denning, he reminded students that a lawyer is not merely a mouthpiece of the client but an officer of the court, owing allegiance to truth and justice. He emphasized that the legal profession is a “jealous mistress,” demanding complete dedication, discipline, and integrity, with no shortcuts to success. He further encouraged aspiring lawyers to cultivate the essential virtues of advocacy with honesty, courage, industry, eloquence, patience, judgment, and fellowship. He highlighted that true strength in advocacy lies not in aggression, but in the quiet confidence that comes from thorough preparation.
The lecture was followed by an engaging interactive question-and-answer session, where students had the opportunity to directly interact with the Hon’ble Judge. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arindam Lodh, Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission. The lecture was attended by the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, sitting and former judges, senior advocates, secretaries of various departments of the Government of Tripura, judicial officers, Tripura Police officials, members of the press, the family of Lt. Apanshu Mohan Lodh, students from various law schools across Tripura including NLU Tripura, as well as faculty and staff members.
