Workshop on Learning 21st Century Skills for Existing & Emerging Legal Careers
NLUT Organises Workshop on CV and Cover Letter Drafting and Emerging Careers in Law
The National Law University Tripura (NLUT), through its Directorate of Internship, organised a career development workshop in collaboration with the All For Law team on 13th October 2026 at the Moot Court Hall of the University. The programme was organised for students across all batches of the B.A. LL.B. programme to strengthen their professional skills, enhance career readiness, and familiarise them with emerging opportunities and technological developments in the legal profession.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the resource persons by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Pratap Singh, and the Registrar, Dr. Jayanta Dhar. The welcome remarks by Hon’ble VC emphasised the importance of equipping law students with practical career skills and preparing them for the evolving demands of the legal profession.
The workshop featured Mr. Rohit Sharma, alumnus of the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, and founder of All For Law, and Ms. Himani Baid as resource persons. The event was coordinated by Mr. Nehru, Mr. Harsh Singh, Mr. Saurabh Verma, and Ms. Shreya Dubey.
The programme comprised two sessions, held from 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM, covering a total of four hours of learning and interaction.
The first session focused on CV and Cover Letter Drafting, providing students with practical guidance on preparing effective and professionally structured applications for internships, recruitment opportunities, and other career prospects. The resource persons explained how students could present their academic achievements, internships, mooting experience, research work, and relevant skills effectively. The session also addressed common mistakes in application preparation and highlighted the importance of tailoring CVs and cover letters to the specific requirements of prospective employers and opportunities.
The second session explored the future of legal careers over the next 15–20 years and the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the legal profession. The discussion examined how technological advancements and AI are likely to transform legal practice, research, dispute resolution, and other areas of the profession. Students were encouraged to consider emerging career opportunities and identify the skills and competencies necessary to remain professionally relevant in a rapidly changing legal landscape. The session further highlighted the importance of using AI responsibly and ethically, particularly with regard to confidentiality, accuracy, professional accountability, and the exercise of independent human judgment in legal work.
The workshop provided students with an opportunity to understand both the immediate requirements of professional applications and the longer-term changes shaping the legal profession. By combining practical guidance on career documentation with a discussion on emerging legal careers and responsible AI adoption, the programme sought to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional practice.
The initiative reflects NLUT’s continuing commitment to promoting experiential learning, career-oriented training, and professional development through the Directorate of Internship. Such initiatives aim to prepare students to navigate the changing demands of the legal sector with confidence, adaptability, and ethical awareness.
