About the journal
The “NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy” is a peer-reviewed/referred academic journal published by the National Law University, Tripura (NLU Tripura). The journal aims to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to engage in critical analysis and discussion of contemporary legal and policy issues. It is an annual journal in English language, published in the month January every year.
Vision and Objectives
The vision of the NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy is to promote scholarly discourse that bridges the gap between law, policy, and practice. It seeks to:
- Foster an academic environment that encourages the exploration of diverse legal and policy perspectives.
- Encourage interdisciplinary research that contributes to the understanding and development of legal and public policy frameworks.
- Provide insights into the challenges and opportunities in law and governance at both national and international levels.
- Serve as a resource for academics, practitioners, policymakers, and students by offering high-quality, original, and innovative scholarly contributions.

Publication Policy
- By sending the submissions to NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy, the author(s) agree to assign exclusive copyright in the work to NLUT-JLP. It shall be entitled to, without limitation, publish and reproduce the submission (or part(s) thereof) in any manner it sees fit (with due acknowledgement to the author) subject to the doctrine of fair use as enumerated under the Copyright Act.
- The editors reserve the right to edit the submissions (or part(s) thereof) for publication without permission from or further notice to the author.
- After initial screening, short-listed submissions will go through a double-blind peer review process and the final selection will be based on that procedure.
- All authors shall receive an acknowledgement of receipt of their work within 4 weeks of submission. If any submission does not pass any level review or is rejected for any reason such as originality, plagiarism etc., then a mail shall be sent to the author in due course of such rejection.

- Submission of Manuscript
Communication and Submissions-All submissions and subsequent communications regarding the manuscript may be addressed to the chief editor by email at nlut-jlp@nlutripura.ac.in - Guidelines
- Research Articles: Original research articles that contribute new insights to legal and policy scholarship. Word limit: 8000-10000 words.
- Case Comments: Analysis of recent legal judgments and their implications. Word limit: 3000 words.
- Legislative Reviews: Examination of proposed or existing legislation and its impact on society. Word limit: 3000 words.
- Book Reviews: Reviews of recent publications in law and policy. Word limit: 2000-3000 words.
- Interviews: Conversations with legal and policy experts, practitioners, and scholars. Word limit: 3000 words.

Note: All the word limits mentioned above are exclusive of footnotes. Kindly note that the word limits will be strictly enforced.
Ethical Policy
NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy follows a rigorous blind peer review process for maintaining the academic integrity for quality publication. The journal maintains high ethical standards of publication and adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines which shall be followed by readers, author’s, reviewers and editors associated with the Journal. NLUT-JLP’s ethics policy determines whether research papers or articles submitted to the journal should be published in the relevant issue.
Plagiarism:
NLU Tripura Journal of Law and Policy (NLUT-JLP) adopts a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism. Authors must acknowledge the work of person who contributed to their research and mention publications that influenced their study. Reproducing text from other articles without correctly crediting the source (plagiarism) or creating multiple papers with almost identical content by the same authors (self-plagiarism) is not permitted. All submitted manuscripts shall mandatorily be checked for plagiarism using ‘Anti-Plagiarism Software’. The ‘similarity report’ should be less than 15%.
Duplicate submission
Duplicate submissions of the same manuscript to different journals are unethical and the submitted article will be disqualified. Such submitted will not be accepted
Data Sharing:
NLUT-JLP encourages authors to share the data and also cite appropriate data source statements.
