School Connect Programme: Let us Work Together for the Children of Tripura

The School Connect Program is an initiative by Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Founding Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Tripura (NLU Tripura) aimed at fostering an interest in legal education among students from schools in the northeastern states of India, particularly emphasizing benefiting the state of Tripura. This program seeks to provide valuable insights into the field of law, highlight the benefits and opportunities in the field of legal education compared to other disciplines, and inspire young minds to pursue a career in law. The study of Law is emerging as one of the most dynamic and demanding fields. Like never before, people have realized the undeniable applicability of law in every aspect of human life.

Moreover, pursuing law provides multiple career options and does not confine individuals to becoming only lawyers. Law degrees provide numerous transferrable skills, making law graduates attractive to many employers. Job Opportunities for Law Graduates are constantly rising from traditional government services to the corporate world. Law graduates can also choose from areas such as banking, finance, marketing, journalism, administration, and management, besides practicing law and joining judicial and prosecution services. Law graduates can apply through the JAG to join the Army as practicing lawyers. Law opens up opportunities rather than limiting them.

Object of the Programme

The School Connect platform aims to effectively bridge the School and National Law University ecosystem. The School Connect Program works closely with schools to fulfil the following four objectives:

• To expose students of the north-eastern region, especially the State of Tripura to newer opportunities and vast knowledge resources related to legal education;
• To work with school faculty to enhance their teaching skills and knowledge
• To create awareness about the constitution, fundamental rights, fundamental duties, and rule of law amongst teachers, staff, and students;
• To create an effective communication channel between both ecosystems.
