About Dr. Debasree Debnath
Dr. Debasree Debnath is an alumnus of National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and completed her B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from Tripura Government Law College. Her doctoral thesis titled, “Multiplicity of Laws Relating to Maintenance for Women: Issues and Challenges,” is recognised as an important contribution to discuss the maintenance issues for women under different personal laws in India.
Dr. Debasree Debnath is presently working as an Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University, Tripura (NLUT). She is also the Centre Director, Centre for Women and Child Rights at NLU Tripura; she organised International Conference on Rights of Women in collaboration with Directorate of Social Welfare and Social Education, Government of Tripura, Tripura Commission for Women. Dr. Debasree also organised national Workshop in collaboration with the National Commission for Women, Delhi. Further, she has organized many expert lectures as Faculty Advisor of the Tripura Dialogue Forum at NLU Tripura. In addition to this, Dr. Debasree delivered guest lectures in many reputed national institutions. Before joining NLU Tripura, she was associated with Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur.
Further, Dr. Debnath is the Faculty Advisor of the Tripura Dialogue Forum (TDF) and Internship and Placement Committee of NLU Tripura. She is also the Chairperson of the Library Committee and In-charge of the Newsletter Committee.
